What to do and see on the South Coast
As member of The Southern Explorer, their official Route Guide is freely available to all our guests.   This Route Guide covers the KZN South Coast from Scottburgh to Port Edward and inland to Kokstad and contains a wealth of information for the visitor to our area.
The phenomenon Sardine run during June / July attracts thousands of dolphins, whales, birds and large game fish and is one in a life time experience. From June to November spectacular  dolphin and whale watching cruises depart from Shelly Beach small craft harbour.  Small craft like ski boats, jet skis and fishing boats and bass fishing can be booked at various launch sites on our coast.  A great attraction for scuba divers is the well known Protea Banks and Aliwal Shoal.
Nine well developed nature reserves with beautiful hiking trails form part of our coastal splendour.   Book a guide or buy a booklet to experience the magnificent South Coast Birding Route.
The sport enthusiasts will be thrilled with  our 9 top quality golf courses, more than 10 bowling greens, mountain biking, quad bikes, body boarding, wakeboarding and  water and jet ski.
Attractions for adrenalin junkies are: abseiling,  bungi jumping, wide slide, wide swing, wild rafting on sea or river, 80 metre suspension bridge, 4 x 4 trails, etc.
